§ Identification
Field marks. Plain grayish-olive vireo with a whitish eyebrow, a dark line through the eye, no wing bars, and dingy whitish underparts (faint yellow on the flanks in fall).
Similar species. Philadelphia Vireo has a yellow-centered breast; Tennessee Warbler is slimmer with a needle bill. The plain face and lack of wing bars mark Warbling.
Voice. A long, rolling, energetic warble that rises and ends on an upslurred note ('if I sees you, I will seize you').

Diet. Caterpillars and other insects, occasional berries.
Behavior. A plain canopy vireo of deciduous and riparian woods; sings an energetic warble almost constantly through summer and gleans caterpillars from the leaves.
